Arrivals in Israel

Here you will find important information about your arrival in Israel:

Joint programs with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HU)

Arrivals for these programs will take place according to the procedures stipulated by HU for all students from abroad. While we can not change these policies, we provide you contact information so that we may assist you in the process.

Two weeks before the start of the program will you receive all contact information you may require as well as information relevant to your arrival in Israel.

Each participant is responsible for arranging their transportation to and from the airport. The trip from the airport to Jerusalem takes about 45 minutes. There are several transportation options that you can use 24 hours a day according to your budget. We will send accurate maps and directions to the university from the airport.

To enter the bedrooms participants must first complete registration n the Rothberg International School in the Mount Scopus campus of Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The offices are open from 8:30 to 3:30 pm Sunday through Thursday. Participants arriving outside these times should arrange accommodations for the night.

This means that if your plane arrives after 13:30 hrs you will probably not arrive in time to complete your registration and obtain the keys to your bedroom. In this case we recommend staying the night in one of the rooms in Agron Guest House in Jerusalem which are inexpensive and of good quality: http://www.iyha.org.il/eng.

One and two week programs

Once you have sent us your flight information and have paid the balance of your seminar costs, you will receive all of the contact information that you may need upon your arrival to the country. Additionally, you will receive 2 letters, both in Hebrew and English: The first one you’ll present it to the security services at the airport to expedite your entry into the country and the second one is for your transportation from the airport to the program (a transportation voucher essentially).

It’s important to keep in mind that due to the particular situation in Israel, security protocols may appear a bit overwhelming to you however, they are normal in Israel and help to guarantee your security. You will probably be asked an extensive set of questions before getting on the plane and also upon your arrival to the country and when you leave; please understand that this is completely normal and even Israeli citizens themselves go through this process when traveling.

Since the entire group will not be arriving at one time, we will be unable to greet each of you individually but in any case, everyone will have arranged transportation from the airport to the program; so long as your arrival to Israel is on the first day of the seminar. In case you are unable find a member of our committee holding a banner with the name of the program “Coexistence in the Holy Land” in airport waiting room, you should do the following:

Go across the waiting room and up the escalator on the left side (or the elevator) 1 floor. There you will see the car rental stands, you should go around them until you get to the “Egged Ishí“ counter. This company will have a list with your name on it, and they will take you to the place where we will celebrate the start of the program. In any case you can show them the letter to make things clear.

Given the limited time of the program, your itinerary will be both exciting and intense. We recommend you take advantage of the travel from the airport and rest as much as you can.
